The Stepstone Institute is a 12 month training program. Each year, 5 candidates, ages 18 to 24, are selected for training. To be considered, all candidates must have a strong passion for video production and possess good reading and writing skills in English.
The key vocational activities the students are involved in are: writing, logging, duplicating, shooting, lighting, sound recording, editing and marketing.
At Stepstone Institute, all young people are given a general hands-on training in the main areas of production. When they become familiar with each aspect they then choose in which area to specialize for the future.
Character building activities are centered on group discussions led by the Director. These discussions include topics like time management, self-esteem, anger management, conflict resolution and other pertinent subjects.
Job readiness training activities are centered on classes and individual counseling sessions. Subjects like resume writing, interviewing techniques, job search techniques are the main focus of these activities.
